Solid Oak Dining Table French Provincial Style

Price is for polished timber finish in standard "brown mahogany" colour. Price is also inclusive of coil sprung upholstery &/or separate seat cushions where applicable. These French provincial dining table style is a very sturdy pieces of furniture and are built in the traditional way to stand up to a lifetime of heavy use. They are solid American oak or European oak with crossbanded walnut inlay around the border. Or, they can be made as simply solid oak top without surrounding border and inlay.  They can also be made with or without the moulded underskirt. In which case, they are usually referred to as a refectory table.

Solid Oak Dining Table on Stretcher Base

A French Provincial style solid oak dining table with baluster supports and stretcher base. This oak dining table is in the same style and has the same construction as our parquet dining table. The only differences being, the tops are solid timber rather than being inlaid with parquetry brickwork. The tops still have a surrounding border with various types of inlaid hardwood timbers separating the outer border and the inner solid oak panels. This configuration can be varied in many ways, to suit your specific requirements. We also have oak dining chairs to match.

They can also be configured with a simple plain solid oak top without surrounding borders or inlay. Even made without an underskirt. With a solid top and no underskirt a table in that type of style is normally referred to as a refectory table that was usually found in more modest provincial farm houses.

These tables are fully custom made for you and can vary in size, shape and colour, according to your requirements. Finishes are also custom done for you and can be any colour you like. All timber is best quality European oak or American oak. In fact, we can use any timber preference you may desire. But oak is the preferred timber of choice for a table like this. Oak is an extremely dense and heavy timber. It was used for ships in the British Navy until the middle of the nineteenth century. And earned the title of “The wooden walls of old England” due to its’ durability and longevity. If it was the prefered timber for war ships, then certainly it will hold up for centuries as a dining room table.
